Curatorial Description
In Odiseo , Orendain transfers his visual universe to a sea of vibrant pigments and liquid forms that evoke both the mystery of the ocean and the myth of the inner journey. The palette of blues, purples, and turquoise tones constructs a deep, almost abysmal surface, where the gold leaf appears not as a background, but as a fragment of revelation: flashes that suggest stars, beacons, or signs of a still-uncertain destiny.
The title refers to the Homeric hero, and the painting becomes a visual metaphor for that transition between the known and the unknown. The work doesn't illustrate, but rather suggests a journey: the waves of consciousness, the depths of the soul, and golden reflections as symbols of the divine or the unattainable.
Through a technique that blends control and improvisation, an enveloping and fluid atmosphere is achieved, reminiscent of oriental ink painting, but with a profoundly contemporary chromatic vitality. The work can be viewed as an emotional map of the human journey: full of light, shadow, and moments in which beauty appears as a guide.
Odysseus invites the viewer to be carried away by the currents of the painting, like a navigator who no longer needs to reach port, but rather to get lost in order to find himself.
