Curatorial Description
Geology of Memory invites us to explore the invisible layers of time and consciousness. Through chromatic blocks that emerge like emotional tectonic plates, the artist constructs a surface that seems to settle between texture and metaphor.
The contrasting use of black and gold creates visual tensions that dissolve into the hazy zones of white and oxide, evoking inner landscapes eroded by experience. The gold leaf is presented here not as an ornament, but as a spiritual fossil: a sacred imprint in the pictorial territory.
The composition maintains ORENDAIN's characteristic geometric rigor, but is punctuated by softly contoured patches that dialogue with the rigid forms. This contrast reflects his constant search between the human and the divine, between the material and the symbolic, between rational construction and intuitive gesture.
With this piece, ORENDAIN reaffirms his view of painting as an introspective language. Geology of Memory doesn't represent a place, but rather the cartography of a mental state where experiences, myths, and emotions are sedimented in successive layers of color and form.
