Curatorial Description
In Silent Horizon , ORENDAIN reduces his visual language to its most essential form: a compositional duality where the material and the symbolic clash without stridency. The canvas is divided between a broad, radiant upper plane covered in gold leaf and a lower surface of diluted, misty, almost liquid greens that evoke a terrestrial landscape seen from the distance of contemplation.
This encounter between gold and green, between sky and earth, generates a poetic tension: the gold extends like an absolute sun or a spiritual field, while the greens suggest life, growth, and ancestral moisture. The small black square, suspended in the upper right corner, functions as a visual enigma—is it an eclipse? A sign? A wound?—that disrupts the harmony with a gesture of rupture and mystery.
The brushstrokes at the bottom reveal layers, transparencies, and textures that invite slow observation; it's a breathing surface, where the abstract becomes atmospheric and the material becomes meditation. The work is reminiscent of minimalist oriental landscapes, but with a contemporary twist that blends the transcendent with the corporeal.
Silent Horizon is a testament to ORENDAIN's ability to create works of great conceptual intensity with the most subtle elements. In this piece, less is not just more: it's deeper, denser, quieter.
