Curatorial Description
In Intimate Cartography , ORENDAIN deploys a visual language that intertwines memory and contemplation, crossing the material with the spiritual. Deep black functions as a dividing axis, a silent channel that fragments the pictorial space while simultaneously uniting it, recalling the duality between emptiness and plenitude. Textured planes of a mineral appearance and flashes of gold emerge from this territory, far from being mere ornaments, acting as signs of the transcendent and the sacred.
The black lines crisscross the canvas like traces of structure and containment. Far from being simple delimitations, they function as axes that organize the pictorial space, reminiscent of traces in an abstract cartography. These vectors mark internal paths, symbolic routes that invite us to explore an intimate territory.
The work reaffirms ORENDAIN's aesthetic signature: the union of restraint and openness, of organicity and formal rigor. In this piece, each element functions as a fragment of an intimate map that invites the viewer to delve into the topography of the invisible, where the gaze becomes revelation.
